Well, we knew the Sox were not going to sweep the Rangers as their 2-game winning streak came to an end with a 6-3 loss to the Rangers.

The game remained score-less until the 6th inning when Ian Kinsler singled in David Murphy, followed by a single from Hamilton that drove in Kinsler to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead. The Rangers scored 2 again in the 7th which closed the book on Lester (6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, WP), handing him his 10th loss of the season (5-10). The Sox got right back in the game in the 7th when pinch hitter, Will Middlebrooks hit a 3-run homer to left to bring the Sox within 1. That was the closest the Sox would get, as the Rangers added a run in the 8th and 9th innings to cement their victory over the Sox.

This game had a lot of promise for Lester and the Sox. Jon Lester was looking better than normal through 5, then the trouble came in the 6th and 7th. I didn't mind Lester's performance tonight, that is when we compare it to his previous starts. If he got some run support, we would be talking about how this was a positive step for Jon Lester. Instead, he is first on the team to double-digits in the loss column.
