(AP Photo/Nick Wass) I, and I am sure many of you, had very little faith in the Sox winning the series. Well, they proved us wrong, and won their first series against the Orioles this season, behind Jon Lester and David Ortiz. Jon Lester returned to old form, shutting down the Orioles in convincing fashion. Lester went 7 very strong score-less innings, scattering 4 hits, 2 walks and striking out 8. Thornton and Beato came in for the 8th and 9th and did continued to shut them down. On the offensive side, the Sox got it started right out of the gate. Mike Napoli drove in the winning run in the first inning, a hard hit double to right to score Victorino. It was surprising they needed only 1 run against this Orioles club. David Ortiz though he would add some insurance runs with a 2-run homer in the third. That was part of David Ortiz' 4-for-4 afternoon. Pretty nice. Salty added a 2-run single in the 8th to cap it off. The Yankees help the Sox out this afternoon by beating the Rays which brought the Sox back to the top of the AL East. Yeah, we actually rooted for the Yankees this weekend. Sort of. The Sox will have a chance to build on that tiny 1/2 game lead tomorrow evening when the Rays come back into town to make up last Thursday's game. Box Score
