The Red Sox got out to a fast lead, scoring seven runs in the 2nd inning, and held on to win 7-4 despite a late Blue Jays rally. Jon Lester pitched seven strong innings. John Farrell sent him back out for the 8th and he immediately gave up two singles. Junichi Tazawa relieved Lester but allowed the two inherited runs, pushing the score into save territory, and forcing (because Farrell is so traditional with his bullpen) Koji Uehara to make an appearance. KKKKKKKoji got three quick outs (including two strikeouts), because that's what he does. The Sox had a balanced attack at the plate, collecting nine hits, with only Mike Carp remaining hitless. The 2nd inning barrage chased Chien Ming-Wang from the game after just one and a third innings, but the Blue Jays bullpen responded with an Orioles-like shut-down performance. A few interesting numbers as I collect my thoughts and look over the box score. Did you realize Daniel Nava got his 49th RBI of the season? And Salty got his 19th double? We're at game 81, so paced out, we'rre talking about Nava being, potentially, a 100-RBI guy, and Salty hitting 40 doubles.  The more important pace? At 48-33, the Sox are on pace for a 96-win season.
