Giants-knocks-the-winning

The Sox have won 3 straight, as they beat the Rays 6-4. The Sox have moved within a game of .500 with the afternoon win and have dropped the Rays to the identical 4-5 record.

David Ortiz swung the big bat for the Sox , going 3-for-4, with 2 doubles, an RBI, and 2 runs scored on the afternoon. Cody Ross started the scoring with a 3-run homer in the second and the Sox never looked back from there. Mike Aviles extended his home run streak to 2 games with a solo homer in the 7th off of Matt Moore.

Felix Doubront didn't have an easy time with the Rays, throwing 5 complete, giving up 9 hits, 4 runs (all earned), struck out 7, and walked one. Luke Scott homered off of Doubront in the fifth to tie game, but the Sox responded with one run in the bottom of the inning and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Vicente Padilla picked up the victory, as he pitched 1 2/3 innings of 1 hit ball, picking up 2 K's. Padilla has been lights out in the early going, coming up huge for the Sox this afternoon.

The Sox will be looking for the 4-game sweep tomorrow morning.
