Toronto Blue Jays
TORONTO -- Clay Buchholz gave up two runs on six hits in eight innings and the Boston Red Sox took the first game of a three game series against the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 on Friday. Buchholz (5-2) recorded seven strikeouts, including striking out the side in the sixth inning and only walked two batters. Blue Jays starter Henderson Alvarez (3-5) gave up four earned runs in 6 1/3 innings work as the Blue Jays had their three-game winning streak snapped. The Red Sox registered 15 hits on Blue Jays pitching. David Ortiz homered for the Red Sox in the first but it was a four-run seventh inning that blew the game wide open. With Boston leading, 3-1, Ryan Sweeney doubled to lead off the inning. Jays starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez then struck out Mike Aviles before being replaced by Luis Perez. Perez retired the first batter he faced but then gave up consecutive hits to Scott Podsednik, Daniel Nava, Adrian Gonzalez and David Ortiz that gave Boston a 7-1 lead. David Cooper go...
BEST OF MAXIM
Clay Buchholz' turn in the rotation hasn't signaled great things for the Red Sox so far this year. Inconsistency plagued Boston's No. 3 starter early in the season, and he allowed 10 home runs in his first six starts. But Buchholz is starting to settle into a groove. Last Sunday, he had a strong seven-inning, two-run outing in a loss to Tampa Bay, and he carried that...
Is the old Clay Buchholz back? The Red Sox right-hander, so confounding for the first six weeks of the season, appears to be finding
the range. He submitted his second straight excellent start Friday in a 7-2 victory over the Blue Jays, pitching a
season-high eight innings and allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out a season-high seven. Coming on the heels...
When Clay Buchholz has his curveball working, he's one of the most electric pitchers there is in the big leagues. On Friday night, it was working. Buchholz struck out seven Blue Jays in eight dominant innings of work, continuing his stretch of strong performances in Toronto. To cap it off, he even sat Jose Bautista down on strikes three times, which is never an easy thing to...
The Red Sox are creeping their way up the standings in the AL East, and their next stop in Toronto offers them a chance at really picking up some steam and making a move on their competitors. Of course, that's assuming the other side plays fair. The Blue Jays have been accused of trying to steal signs recently, but they haven't had much success doing it against Clay Buchholz...
Clay Buchholz is coming off his strongest start of the season. He's usually been at his best against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Buchholz looks to continue his recent dominance of the Blue Jays when the Boston Red Sox open a weekend series Friday night at Rogers Centre.
Buchholz (4-2, 7.19 ERA) allowed two runs and struck out a season-high six in seven innings Sunday, but closer...
Clay Buchholz took the mound for the Red Sox and continued his dominant ways against the Blue Jays. He easily had his best outing to date and along with Daniel Nava led the Sox to their first win in June.
Clay was just wheeling and dealing. He was amazing. He looked like that "ace in the making" that we were waiting to see. His line for the night was 108 pitches...
Clay Buchholz threw his best outing of the season on Friday night, giving up just two runs over eight innings of work. Buchholz' fastball command was stellar and his breaking ball was buckling the knees of just about every Blue Jay to stand in the batters box. Clay seemed awfully better and increasingly confident about his progress this season, during his postgame media session...
TORONTO -- After a slow start to his season, Clay Buchholz is rounding into form for the Boston Red Sox. Buchholz gave up two runs on six hits in a season-high eight innings and the Boston Red Sox took the first game of a three game series against the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 on Friday. "It's been building the last three or four times out," said Buchholz, who picked...
8 a.m. ET: The Red Sox (26-25) are heading north of the border for another showdown in Toronto against the Blue Jays (27-24). In the process, the team will look to leapfrog their American League East rivals and continue their climb up the charts. In order to do so, Clay Buchholz is hoping to maintain his pace from his previous start. In his last outing, Buchholz had one of his most...
The Red Sox travel to Toronto after a grueling series against Detroit with hopes of seeing Clay Buchholz continue the performance he had Sunday against Tampa Bay. Buchholz struck out 6 batters in 7 innings while allowing only two earned runs in his last start. He’ll be on the mound tonight at the Rogers Centre [...]

The Red Sox were firing on all cylinders tonight on their way to an easy 7-2 victory in Toronto.
When Clay Buchholz announced that he was going to start working with his own, personal pitching coaches I was a little skeptical. But the duo of Doc Brown and Marty McFly seem to be paying off immensely as Buchholz has reverted back to his 2010 self...

Mom, you're going to need to make up another bed in the basement because we have company.
