Lon Lester stumbled out of the gate early and the offense had plenty of chances to make a comeback but fall just short as the White Sox take the first game of the series, 6-4. Lester was able to get two quick outs in the first but Alex Rios was able to get a single, Paul Konerko was able to draw a walk and then all of a sudden, Lester leaves a meatball to Adam Dunn and he puts one into the bleachers for a 3-0 White Sox lead.  Next inning, it was the same thing all over again: two quick outs but Lester wasn't able to close the inning. Instead the White Sox gets three consecutive doubles from Tyler Greene, Alejandro de Aza, and Alexei Ramirez to make it 5-0 Chicago.  Meanwhile on offense the Red Sox made Dylan Axelrod look pretty good. He was pitching to contact a whole bunch and the Sox couldn't get anything going until the third where Jarrod Saltlamacchia was able to muscle one to centerfield to make it a 5-2 game. It was Salty's 5th homer of the year and was the only person in the lineup with multiple hits. As for Alexrod, he went six innings, giving up just the two runs on four hits. He walked one & struck out two.  Then in the fifth, Lester failed to get out of another jam unscathed as Dayan Viciedo got a base hit with two men on to bring another run in and make it a 6-2 game. Lester (6-1) was able to get through six innings, giving up six earned rus on seven hits, walking three and striking out two.  The Sox were able to get two runs back, thanks to an RBI double from Will Middlebrooks in the 7th to make it a 6-4 game. They also had some chances off of White Sox closer Addison Reed in the ninth, as both Middlebrooks and Salty had high drives that fell to the warning track to clinch it for Chicago.  It was a very frustrating game as the opportunities were there but the Sox couldn't put it together. Jacoby Ellsbury was extremely frustrating tonight as he grounded out to the second basemen four times, including one for a double play. Shane Victorino was also taken out of the sixth for what's being called "hamstring tightness." He'll be day-to-day.
