After Bobby Valentine led the Red Sox to their worst record since 1994, it was clear a change needed to be made. On Saturday night, that change came as the team announced the return of John Farrell. Farrell, who had his introductory press conference on Tuesday, will be the Red Sox' 46th manager. In two years as the Blue Jays skipper he had a 154-170 record. With his return to Boston, Farrell brings a familiarity with the front office, players and especially the pitching staff. In his first year as the Boston pitching coach in 2007, Farrell helped the pitching staff compile a 3.72 ERA -- a crucial reason why the team won the World Series that year. He has worked with current starters Jon Lester, Clay Bucholz and star-crossed reliever Daniel Bard. How Farrell fares in his first season as the Red Sox manager is yet to be seen, but the fans are certainly happy to have him back. To hear some of their reactions to his hiring, check out the video above.
