The Boston Red Sox have scheduled a press conference at 10:30 a.m. today at City of Palms Park in which multiple sources indicate, Nomar Garciaparra will announce his retirement.
Garciaparra played 14 seasons in the league, finishing up his career in 2009 with the Oakland A's. He is a career .313/.361/.521 player, who spent 8 plus seasons in Boston, a year with the Cubs, and three seasons with the Dodgers. He flirted with hitting .400 in 2000 ending the season with a .372 batting average.
