I admit, for the past couple of weeks I’ve been a little upset at my Boston Red Sox. A historic collapse, the “mutual” separation from the manager, the GM leaving to take on a new curse and here we are in the midst of what will be one of the most heavily scrutinized off-season’s since at least 2003. With the World Series now over and the St. Louis Cardinals joining the Sox with two championships each in the last 7 years, one of the most exciting times of the year is upon us. The Hot Stove is a term given to the off-season and refers to the flurry of transactions that occur during the time after the World Series and prior to Spring Training. Most important for the Red Sox now is for new General Manager Ben Cherington to hire a new manager that will replace Terry Francona. Of course there have been a number of rumored candidates, but Cherington made it very clear during his introductory press conference that he had his short list.
