The injury woes for the 2012 Red Sox seemingly have been relentless. At this point in the season, 21 Red Sox players have made trips to the disabled list. Luckily, David Ortiz, has not been one of them. Ortiz, who has been one of the very few, perhaps the only, constant performers this season, has played in 89 of the team’s 90 games. That is assuredly going to change. As Adrian Gonzalez hit a booming, and eventual game-winning, home run over the monster, Ortiz was seen limping around the bases and into the dugout. The home run seemed to be extra significant since Gonzalez had been struggling all season, especially with power. But if we have learned anything from the 2012 Red Sox, it’s that the good often is followed by some bad. Manager Bobby Valentine said after the game that he didn’t expect Ortiz to miss more than a few games, but for precautionary purposes Ortiz will have an MRI on his Achilles Tendon sometime today. Ortiz himself said that he fully expects to be “OK” in a few d...

Your Morning Dump...where the real Adrian Gonzalez steps up.

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. It started modestly with a few 1-for-4 games that featured a single a night in late June. But the drumbeat soon picked up, a 2-for-5, a 2-for-3, a 2-for-4, a 2-for-5. Game after game, the hits have been coming...

Adrian Gonzalez Suffers Back Injury After Bending Down To Greet A Young Child

Apparently, kids are Adrian Gonzalez's kryptonite. It wasn't a sneeze or heavy lifting or any other one of the myriad fluke reasons for back injuries suffered by athletes over the years -- rather, it was Gonzalez's kindness in saying hello to a fan that caused the trouble for the star first baseman, according to The Boston Globe. During a trip to a local mall in Tampa...

Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix, July 17, 2012: Injuries to Joey Votto, Jose Bautista and David Ortiz

After going through a rough stretch Lance Lynn resumed his dominant early season ways in last night's game against the Brewers.  Lynn pitched 7.0 innings of one run ball and rung up 10, although he only came away with a no decision in the Cards win. Miguel Montero and Mark Reynolds had almost identical nights for their respective teams.  Montero went 3-4 with a HR and...

It was almost perfect for Boston Red Sox fans: They cheered Kevin Youkilis early in the game and enjoyed a late-inning rally by their team. Adrian Gonzalez spoiled Youkilis' return to Fenway Park, hitting a tiebreaking three-run homer in the eighth inning of a 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday. The...

Adrian spoils Youk's welcome back party as Red Sox win 5-1.

In a night that had Kevin Youkilis' return to Boston & the season debut of Carl Crawford, the biggest return was Adrian Gonzalez's power.
