Every year the Red Sox invite a handful of players to Fenway Park for a week, allowing the rookies to get training and guidance to ease their transition to The Show. This year, that camp begins on Monday. For 2013 the Red Sox have invited 11 players to attend the camp, including the two heralded pieces they got back from the Dodgers in the Adrian Gonzalez mega-trade — Allen Webster and Rubby De La Rosa. Other names which should be familiar to Red Sox fans — including Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Xander Bogaerts — will also be in attendance. The week-long program features both physical workouts and seminars on various topics. The workouts focus on strength and conditioning, and are meant to improve baseball fundamentals. The seminars are on a wide variety of topics that plan to help the rookies assimilate to live in the major leagues. Moreover, some impressive names are signed up to give talks, including John Farrell, Ben Cherington and other members of the Red Sox’ staff, Jason Varitek and even Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers.
