Ben Cherington, Theo Epstein Pulling for Each Other in New Positions

Theo Epstein and Ben Cherington became great friends while working together in the Red Sox organization, so although Epstein is now with the Cubs, the two will be pulling for each other in their new positions. Epstein and Cherington both admitted that they'll be rooting for the other's team, except when the two teams meet up in Chicago in June. They also spoke glowingly of...

Cubs fans: Epstein needs your patience

Theo Epstein says he doesn't believe in curses. Good thing. He has taken on two of the bigger curses in professional sports. He licked the Curse of the Bambino in Boston. Now comes the Chicago Cubs and the curse of the Billy Goat, which has reached such epic proportions that the believers think that former Cubs players take the curse with them when they move on, like Bill Buckner...

Cashman, Epstein happy they can now do business

Why We Should Expect New York Yankees To Become Trade Partners With Chicago Cubs

We should expect to see some dealings and trades between the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs over the next few years, now that former Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein departed to take over as president of baseball operations in the Windy City. That means he is now free to conduct business with New York general manager Brian Cashman. When they worked for the other’...

Cuban lefty Gerardo Concepcion signs with Cubs

Theo Epstein might be in Chicago now, but that won’t stop him from signing players the Yankees are interested in. Not a lot is...

Since its release last September, Moneyball has been an astounding success. Now, with two Oscar nominations to look forward to, actor and producer Brad Pitt and his co-star Jonah Hill are taking a victory lap. All this, of course, is much to the chagrin of former Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein. When author Michael Lewis was first writing the book, Epstein was outraged...

If Theo Epstein could figure out what causes players to falter in big markets, he told guests at Fenway Park on Monday night, "I'd take it with me to Chicago." The Boston crowd ate it up.

John Maine Expected to Compete as Reliever, According to Ben Cherington

BOSTON –– John Maine was once a 15-game winner for the Mets. Although the pitcher is four years removed from that career year, Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington believes Maine can contribute at some capacity. "We're going to give him an opportunity to come in and pitch as a reliever and see what he looks like," Cherington said before Monday's Hot Stove...

Ben Cherington Pledges That Red Sox Will 'Continue to Work as Hard as We Possibly Can'

There probably isn't another team in baseball that is ready for the new season to begin as much as the Red Sox are. Their 2011 season -- a campaign that at one point seemingly had endless promise -- crashed and burned down the home stretch, leading to an offseason of change. One of those changes came at general manager where Ben Cherington has stepped in to take the reins from...
