The Boston Red Sox today acquired right-handed pitcher Chris Carpenter and a player to be named later from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later. To make room for Carpenter on the 40-man roster, the Red Sox placed right-handed pitcher Bobby Jenks on the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from back surgery. With the trade, the compensation for Theo Epstein joining the Cubs as the team’s President of Baseball Operations is complete. The transaction has been agreed upon .....
