(Leon Halip/Getty Images)The Carmine Hose got to 10-game-winner Max Scherzer early—scoring two runs in the first. Unfortunately, Red Sox pitching gave back 10 and, viola', Scherzer was 11-0 and Boston was a 10-3 loser. Rookie Allen Webster gave up 5 runs on his own in just 4 1/3 innings—the second straight bad outing for one of the centerpieces of The Great Punto Deal. The 16th HR from David Ortiz was pretty much the only highlight of this game. Boston finishes up with Detroit on Sunday, then comes home to face the Rockies on Tuesday—with someone other than Clay Buchholz starting.

Detroit -- Baseball is a game of imperfections and failure, yet somehow most of that has eluded Max Scherzer this season.
Scherzer held the Boston Red Sox to two runs on six hits in a 10-3 Tigers victory Friday night at Comerica Park to become the first Tigers pitcher to win 11 consecutive decisions to start the season.
How wowed is Scherzer by what he's done?
A Detroit Tigers pitcher has begun the season 11-0 and it is not Justin Verlander.
Max Scherzer improved to 11-0 after the Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox 10-3 on Saturday night. Victory Martinez put the Tigers ahead early with a grand slam in the first inning while Scherzer survived a shaky first inning himself.
“It’s nice to start a season 11-0. It just means we’re playing...
It’s become an interesting recent phenomenon within Detroit Tigers’ baseball. Players achieve feats not seen in years, yet many downplays their achievements because of petty reasoning.
In 2011, Justin Verlander’s game walked like an MVP and talked an MVP, yet some people still doubted he was worthy of the award. A pitcher haden’t been elected the most...
Gets A Saturday StartRed Sox pitching prospect Allen Webster (acquired in The Great Punto Trade) will get another shot at starting in The Show on Saturday. You may recall that Webster has had a bit of a schizophrenic experience in the bigs—a good six-inning stint in April; a 1 1/2 inning stinker with eight earned runs in May. The kid is generally regarded to have a huge upside...
After splitting the first two games, the Boston Red Sox (45-31) and Detroit Tigers (40-32) tangle in tonight’s Game 3 from Comerica Park. The Sox offense exploded for 10 runs, led by right fielder Shane Victorino, who went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs. Boston’s batters must have thought the same as Red Sox Nation: No lead is safe.
Max Scherzer won his 11th straight decision to start the season and Victor Martinez hit a first-inning grand slam to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 10-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.
Scherzer (11-0) allowed two runs in the first, including a towering solo homer by David Ortiz, but Martinez's drive put the Tigers ahead to stay.
Martinez also hit an RBI double...

During the MLB on FOX telecast last Saturday, my colleague Ken Rosenthal reported that the Los Angeles Dodgers and ace Clayton Kershaw had made progress on a seven-year extension worth at least $180 million.
This Saturday's MLB on FOX lineup features another top starter who, like Kershaw, is on track to become a free agent after the 2014 season: Detroit Tigers right-hander Max...
8 a.m. ET: Allen Webster will be thrown into the fire on Saturday.
Webster, who has just two big league starts to his credit, will make a spot start against the Tigers. But not only will he go up against one of baseball’s most potent offenses. He’ll also face a pitcher who hasn’t lost all season.
Webster will go toe-to-toe with Max Scherzer, who is a perfect 10-0 with a 3.08...

Allen Webster could have done a lot better. Normally, when your offense grabs you 2 runs in the top of the first, it settles you down, but that wasn't the case with Webster. He never fully recovered from a Victor Martinez grand slam in the bottom of the 1st. He gave up a total of 5 runs in 4.1 innings. Currently, he is 0-2 with an ERA of 11.25 according...

John Farrell is standing by Allen Webster, telling the Boston Herald that "There's going to be growing pains." Like I said in my article a couple of days ago on Webster, going against a very good Detroit Tiger lineup is tough in your second major league start. He did show some promise in his last start. His change up was working well for...
