Found October 19, 2013 on FenwayNation:
In the midst of their run at a possible World Series appearance, the Red Sox signed 27-year-old Cuban pitcher Dalier Hinojosa to a minor league contract. The right-hander only throws in the low 90s, but reportedly has a devastating split-finger and/or change-up. The 6-foot, 200 pound Hinojosa projects as a reliever. In Cuba's Serie Nacional league, he had 87 strikeouts and a 3.52 ERA in 2012.

Red Sox Win ALCS, Mike Napoli Loses Shirt Thirteen Seconds Later

Putting the exclamation point on one of the most inexplicably awesome seasons since 2004, the Red Sox closed out the ALCS tonight at Fenway Park, besting a Tigers team that, at least on paper, seemed a superior opponent. But this Red Sox team is built of heart, resilience, booze and your uncle’s dirty magazines, and when **** got tough, they made all the right moves. Among the...

How the Red Sox Won the ALCS, In Four Simple GIFs

For the Red Sox, the road to the 2013 World Series included a dramatic win in game six of the ALCS–a game punctuated with some real time-vault material. It is my pleasure to provide a brief, visual summary of the game’s highlights, courtesy of these four GIFs: First, Prince Fielder was like: Then Victorino was all: Then Koji stepped up and said: And he was later seen winning...

Recap: Napoli leads offensive attack to 4-3 win

The Red Sox head back to Fenway up 3-2 in the ALCS thanks to a 4-3 win over the Tigers tonight in Detroit. The big story: There was actually some offense for both teams. The Tigers and Red Sox each had double-digit hits tonight, despite respectable performances by Jon Lester and Anibal Sanchez. Neither starter was at his best -- especially Sanchez early on -- but neither gave a...

Report: Red Sox Sign Cuban Right-Hander Dalier Hinojosa

Just because the Red Sox are vying for a World Series this season doesn’t mean they’re not working hard to ensure future success. The Red Sox have signed Cuban right-hander Dalier Hinojosa, according to Baseball America’s Ben Badler. WEEI.com’s Alex Speier has since confirmed the report, and CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman reports that the Sox will pay Hinojosa a $4 million...

Red Sox Win ALCS – Will Take On St Louis Cardinals in 2013 World Series

The Boston Red Sox continued their charge throughout he post season and beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 in Game 6 of the ALCS and will represent the American League in the 2013 World Series. Shane Victorino snacked a  grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to give the Red Sox a three-run lead and the Red Sox bullpen took over from there recording the last six out with relative ease...

Shane Victorino is giving up on switch-hitting again

Shane Victorino has hit exclusively from the right side for the past six weeks so it was a bit of a surprise to see him bat left-handed against Anibal Sanchez in Game 5 of the ALCS on Thursday night. However after going 0-for-3 against Sanchez he flipped back to the right side against relievers Jose Veras and Al Alburquerque. And from what he told Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com he...

Red Sox Tame Tigers for American League Pennant, Look Like Team of Destiny Going Into World Series

BOSTON — Baseball is the most statistic-based sport on the planet. There’s seemingly a number for everything, and those numbers are used ad nauseam to try to explain what happens on the field. Sometimes, you just have to say, “Screw it,” and enjoy the ride. The Red Sox are World Series bound after taming the Tigers in six games in the ALCS, and there are plenty of reasons...

Jose Iglesias Makes Incredible Over-the-Shoulder Grab to Steal Hit From David Ortiz on Outfield Grass (Video)

David Ortiz almost got lucky and saw his pop fly drop in for a hit. But Jose Iglesias, with some determined chasing and one brilliant swipe of his glove, caught that luck right out of the sky and gave Ortiz an out instead. The Red Sox already had a 3-0 lead in the third inning of Thursday night’s Game 5 of the American League Championship Series when Ortiz fought off an Anibal...

Brayan Pena’s tag on Will Middlebrooks blocked by umpire (GIF)

On field officials for the most part do a pretty good job keeping themselves out of the way throughout the course of a game, except for last night. During the 9th inning of the ALCS between the Red Sox and Tigers, Detroit catcher Brayan Pena had to hustle over to third base when Will Middlebrooks made the attempt to take the bag on a routine ground ball. However even though Prince...

ALCS Game 6: Tigers at Red Sox - Fenway ready to celebrate a Sox AL championship

Ben Whitehead Contributing Writer ONE is the key number. ONE half of the World Series matchup is decided. The other half could be decided tonight. That’s because the Boston Red Sox are ONE win away from being crowned American League Champions. We won’t let that sink in just yet, because the Sox need to score at least ONE more run than the Detroit Tigers in order to proclaim...
