The Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, and the Philadelphia Phillies made out really well before the trading deadline. The Chicago White Sox who traded eariler in the season for Jake Peavy only to have him reject the trade has now decided to accept the trade and he will become a Chicago White Sox. This really helps them out especially in their hopes of catching the Tigers in the AL Central.
The Boston Red Sox traded for Victor Martinez from the Cleveland Indians for some minor leaguers. This was a big trade for the Red Sox as this will give them a guy who can hit and catch for them. He is a good clubhouse guy and is young. Another bargain from the Cleveland Indian fire sale.
Philadelphia Phillies wanted to get there pitching some help so why not get a Cy Young winner which they did in Cliff Lee. Lee the last two years has been one of the best pitchers in baseball and that will continue in Philadelphia where he will at least get run support something he never had in Cleveland.
