Mat Latos has been a huge presence in the Cincinnati rotation since they shipped a healthy prospect package to San Diego to get him before last season. He finished strong and was a big contributor to the Reds success in 2012 and has remained effective atop their rotation during Johnny Cueto’s absence this year.

Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips continue to lead way in All-Star voting

The possibility of having two Reds start for the National League team in the 2013 All-Star Game continues to look good after the latest voting totals were released by Major League Baseball on Sunday. Both first basemen Joey Votto and second basemen Brandon Phillips continue to tally the most votes of any player at their respective positions. However, their lead has seemingly...

Hoping a day off fixes what ails the Reds

Yesterday, the Cincinnati Reds didn’t play baseball. At least, I assume they didn’t. With them being on their first west coast trip of the season, the games start so late that I could easily miss them. The Reds have been struggling lately, which is never how you want to see them when they’re heading out west. My, there’ve been some seasons lost out west. That won’t happen...

Mark Berry’s battle with cancer

The third base coach for the Cincinnati Reds, Mark Berry, was diagnosed with cancer during spring training. The treatment for the cancer in his left tonsils and lymph nodes was so strong that it forced him to take a leave of absence from his duties with the Reds. I’d been wondering how the treatment has been going, but there haven’t been many updates. Reds beat writer Mark Sheldon...

Junior Arias is showing off his big tools a lot more in 2013 than he did in 2012.

Reds slip one spot in latest power rankings

On Monday, the baseball gurus at ESPN put their collective minds together and released their weekly batch of Major League Baseball Power Rankings. After holding down the No. 3 overall spot in last week's edition, the Cincinnati Reds slipped one spot to No. 4 this time around, after posting a 3-4 record against the likes of the Pirates and the Diamondbacks. Falling one spot...

Latos, Reds salvage final game in Arizona, 4-2

PHOENIX (AP) -- Mat Latos matched his career high with 13 strikeouts and the Cincinnati Reds salvaged the finale of their three-game series in Arizona with a 4-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Shin-Soo Choo hit a leadoff home run and Brandon Phillips added a two-run shot in the first inning off Randall Delgado (0-1). That was plenty of offense for Latos (7-1), who allowed...

His reputation is a good, young power hitter and solid corner outfielder who has played at an All-Star level. By now; when Bruce gets hot, people all over baseball take notice and know that it’s going to be a volcanic eruption. I have followed this player’s career closely and wanted...

Delgado, D-backs look to finish sweep of Reds

If the Diamondbacks are to finish off their first home sweep of the Reds in 10 years, they likely must find a way to end Mat Latos' dominance at Chase Field. The D-backs will be looking to do both while trying to match a season high with their fifth consecutive victory and hand the Reds a fourth straight defeat Sunday. One night after Arizona (41-33) pounded out 15 hits in...

D-backs get to Chapman, beat Reds

Jason Kubel's legs are feeling better and the Arizona Diamondbacks are reaping the benefits. Kubel hit a two-run single in the ninth inning to rally the Diamondbacks past Aroldis Chapman and the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 Saturday night for their fourth straight victory. "It's just being comfortable," said Kubel, who missed two weeks this season with a strained left...

Series Preview: Oakland A’s Host Cincinnati Reds in Two-Game Interleague Set

The Oakland A’s will try to get back on track tonight against the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a short two-game interleague series in Oakland. Bob Melvin’s squad went 2-5 on a seven-game jaunt through Texas and Seattle, losing the final two games to the Mariners in particularly frustrating fashion. For whatever reason, Seattle seems to have Oakland’s number this season...
