Found August 09, 2012 on Fox Sports:
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was back in the starting lineup a day after he was activated off the seven-day concussion disabled list. Mesoraco was batting eighth Thursday night against the Chicago Cubs. The 24-year-old rookie was hurt in a collision with San Diego runner Cameron Maybin on July 30 and later ejected for bumping plate umpire Chad Fairchild. Mesoraco left in the sixth inning the next day because of dizziness and was put on the DL on Aug. 1. Mesoraco says he wanted to keep playing ''but if something would have happened you never know what the ramifications of getting hit again would be.'' Dioner Navarro was called up from Triple-A Louisville as a replacement and optioned back Thursday. Mesoraco was batting .221 with five homers and 14 RBIs.

Latos, Rolen make a move in latest player power rankings

It’s the second edition of the player power rankings. The Reds are 3-4 since last week, including all four losses in a row going into tonight’s game with the Cubs. Almost everyone seems to have cooled off, which should have been expected, leaving most Reds fans yearning for the return of Joey Votto. Who can blame them? We’ve been without him long enough. Hopefully,...

Despite a great season, the Cincinnati Reds were recently swept and second baseman Brandon Phillips hilariously responded to a question about losing on Twitter.

Cincinnati struggling, turns to Red-hot Latos

The hottest team in the majors for much of the past month, the Cincinnati Reds are suddenly on the verge of matching their longest losing streak of the season. Fortunately for them, they may have the right man on the mound Wednesday to stop the slide. Mat Latos looks to help the Reds avoid a fourth straight loss and a three-game sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers by winning...

Doyel: Aroldis Chapman for Cy Young

The Cuban Missile has had a lot to smile about lately R.A. Dickey, Johnny Cueto, Craig Kimbrel, Joel Hanrahan and Aroldis Chapman are all pitchers who figure to be in the running for National League Cy Young Award honors at year's end. And at least one national columnist is willing to cast his vote for baseball's most prestigious pitching award to Chapman. In his latest...

Game 111: Reds 2, Brewers 3

The Reds wasted a lovely start by Mat Latos yesterday afternoon to notch their fourth loss in a row. In 7.0 innings of work, Latos allowed just 1 run (earned) on 3 hits and a walk. He struck out 8. Seriously, as this guy gets older and gets better … [visit site to read more]

Bailey attempts to stop losing skid

What looked to be a favorable stretch for the Cincinnati Reds has been anything but easy. The Reds will try to avoid a sixth straight loss Friday when they continue their series against the Chicago Cubs. After taking two of three last weekend from Pittsburgh - its nearest competitor in the NL Central - to open a 4 12-game lead, Cincinnati was swept at Milwaukee before dropping a...

Baker giving Bruce a couple days off

CHICAGO (AP) -- Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker is giving slumping outfielder Jay Bruce a couple days off. Bruce hit .213 in July and is batting .200 in August. He's hitless in his last 12 at-bats with seven strikeouts. Baker said Friday the slump is "like being in quicksand" and called the time off a "last resort." Even with Bruce slumping and slugger Joey...

Overnight ratings rose once again for primetime coverage of the London Olympics. In other news, Saturday’s Nationwide Series race from Iowa hit a record low in viewership, and local ratings have risen by double-digits for the Cincinnati Reds. Another Slight Rise in Overnights For Olympics: Tape delayed primetime coverage of the 2012 London Olympics drew an 18.6 overnight rating...

If Reds players competed in the Olympics

As the 2012 Summer Olympic Games comes to a close this weekend, I couldn't help but wonder how some of the current Reds would fare in a few of the events. So, I gave it a little thought and came up with the following event/player pairings. Remember, these are just for kicks and giggles. Sean Marshall - Archery + The tall left-hander has literally been on point this...

Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix, August 9, 2012: Hamilton On The Run, Machado Promoted

Reds' prospect Billy Hamilton stole 3 bases on Wednesday night, making it 131 on the season. If you follow TheFantasyFix on Twitter – and if you don't you're a stupid asshole – you have heard plenty about Hamilton's speed throughout this season. Strangely, as I write this at 10pm west coast, there is still no mention of Hamilton, but it's probably just because...

Friday Funnies: Anthony Rizzo, Devin Mesoraco, and the play at the plate.

It's always been my favorite play, the play at the plate. When Starlin Castro blasted one off the wall with Darwin Barney on 2nd and Anthony Rizzo on first, you knew it was gonna happen. Not really that big an explosion, but if I'm Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco I'd be thinking about lots of stuff including Rizzo's size, the collision that's about to happen, holding...
