For several weeks, the media had speculated that the Mets had some interest in Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye. I as well as several other sites, have written extensively about the pros and cons of acquiring the All Star outfielder to play left field for the Mets. It turns out that the Mets are one of a handful of teams on Dye's no-trade list. That means that unless Dye was willing to waive his no-trade clause, the Mets would not have been able to make a trade for him, or could have had their trade blocked. Lance McAlister of 1530 WCKY in Cincinnati is reporting that the Reds and White Sox could be discussing a major trade for Jermaine Dye. McAlister's source says that the White Sox are looking to trade Jermaine Dye to the Reds in exchange for Homer Bailey and another player. Reds GM, Walt Jocketty admitted to discussing a trade with the White Sox, but would not elaborate except to say that nothing was close yet.
