Found December 02, 2008 on Dunn and Dunner:

Not much of a surprise considering David Weathers is a type B free agent meaning they will get a supplemental draft pick if he signs else where. Of course the other possibilities are that they either sign him to a new deal, or he goes to the arbitrator and gets a 1 year deal at what ever they set the salary at. Either way it's pretty safe bet in my mind.

In other non surprising news Dusty Baker continues to have too much power, but at least this time it isn't completely useless. The Chicago Tribune has posted a story about Dusty in the near future contacting Kerry Wood.

"We have a closer already in [ Francisco] Cordero, who we have under contract for a few more years," Baker said Monday. "But somebody can use Kerry Wood. I am going to call him. I like Kerry Wood as a person, not just as a ballplayer, but as a person. I will give him a call and see what's up."

Wood made a pretty good comeback last year pitching for the Cubs racking up 34 saves in 40 chances, an ERA+ of 137, and a great WHIP of 1.085. We all know Wood's injury history, but maybe his elbow and what ever else is screwed up with him forgot. I hate the Cubs, but I'd love him like he was my own.

Now I'm going to go back to watching Days of Thunder just for the sound track.
