[Box Score] The Reds went into the Lions Den and came away with a victory, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 in Los Angeles. The win snapped the Dodgers six-game winning streak. A true barometer of how good any Reds team is (especially at this point in the season) is how they fare on a west coast trip to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. That is a long trip across the country for the midwest Reds and in the past a pedestrian Reds team would commonly go 2-8 or 3-7 and then head home with their seasons really on the rails. This year has been different so far. The Reds are now 4-1 on the current trip. Mat Latos picked up his 10th win of the season going 7 and 2/3 innings, striking out four and walking one. Aroldis Chapman got the save in the ninth, his 24th of the season. The Reds broke the game open with Jay Bruce’s 21st home run of the season, a two-run shot to left center that sucked all the wind out of the crowd when it hit the bat. That’s how Bruce’s home runs have been...

Dodgers designate Lilly for assignment, recall Herrera

LOS ANGELES The Dodgers designated pitcher Ted Lilly for assignment Thursday, a move they preferred not to make but felt they were forced to. Lilly, who was activated from the disabled list on Wednesday, refused the teams request to pitch in the minors, so the Dodgers essentially let him go. Hes likely to be picked up on waivers by another team or become a free agent. To take...

Dodgers' Crawford sent to ER with fever

LOS ANGELES The Dodgers say it's precautionary, but any trip to the local emergency room has to be viewed with a bit of concern. That's where left fielder Carl Crawford was headed Saturday afternoon after he came to the ballpark with a fever and high temperature. Manager Don Mattingly said Crawford didn't feel well Friday night but played anyway after feeling better...

Q&A: Logan White, Dodgers’ VP Of Amateur Scouting

Logan White, the Dodgers‘ Vice President Of Amateur Scouting, was kind enough to give me 20 minutes of his time to talk about the farm system and draft. If you want to hear White actually speak, check out the latest episode of “Dugout Blues“. —– I looked at the draft this year and you kind of had a more college-focused approach this year. Is there any reason for that? Logan...

Mike Leake notches 10th win in unique fashion

Mike Leake improved his season record to a team-best 10-4 on Wednesday as the Reds turned away the Giants, 8-3, at AT&T Park. However, the manner in which Leake emerged victorious is somewhat unique. Leake won the game in spite of allowing a whopping 12 hits in six innings of work. The 25-year-old became the first pitcher since Marlins right-hander Ricky Nolasco in...

Hanley Ramirez cons Shin-Soo Choo into out

courtesy of www.thenewstribune.com With all the talk of rookie sensation Yasiel Puig this season the real catalyst for the Dodger success is LA shortstop Hanley Ramirez.  He is the unsung hero for the National League West division leaders.  Dodgers are 17 and 5 in their last 22 ballgames and leading the division by a half game.  It all starts with the team’s best player, Hanley...

Zack Greinke slams Ryan Braun: 'He was willing to use anyone'

The smoke continues to clear a bit after Major League Baseball handed down a 65-game suspension to Ryan Braun following their investigation into his involvement with the Biogenesis scandal. Naturally, there have certainly been no shortage of people chiming in with their personal opinions on the matter. One of the latest people to come forward with their thoughts is Los Angeles Dodgers...

Yasiel Puig is Rolling again, and the Dodgers are on Fire

The Dodgers were down to their final out tonight when Andre Ethier hit a sinking liner to center fielder Colby Rasmus. The ball skipped off the Toronto turf and rolled a ways, allowing Yasiel Puig to scamper home and tie the game at 3-3 off Blue Jays closer Casey Jannsen. The Dodgers would score five more runs in the top of the 10th inning to win the game 8-3. The crowning moment...

Dodgers Rumors Roundup: Peavy, Norris, The Beard

The Dodgers lost out on Matt Garza to the Texas Rangers, though I’m not really sure how hard the Dodgers were trying. The price was sky high and was simply too inflated for the Dodgers. Moving on, the Dodgers have now turned their attention to Jake Peavy but according to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the Sox asking price is “really high.” The Dodgers will be scouting what could...

Injury Report

Ryan Ludwick Ryan Ludwick was sent out on rehab assignment with the class A Dayton Dragons yesterday while they played the Lansing Lugnuts. Ludwick was the DH and had three plate appearances. He popped out, walked, and singled. Nice that he’s trying out all the possibilities. Perhaps tonight he could try out that home run muscle. Ludwick has been out of the major league line-up...

Greinke: Braun “willing to use anyone”

Zack Greinke was a former teammate of Ryan Braun during his time in Milwaukee. Now a pitcher on the Los Angeles Dodgers there was no shortage of slams directed at the Brewers outfielder who has been suspended for the remainder of the 2013 season. Greinke called Braun a liar and a user in an interview with the Los Angeles Times: “The main thing is, yeah, he lied to us,” Greinke...
