Jeremy Reed was a first basemen in college and his athleticism landed him in center field. As he filled out he became more of a corner outfielder and a spot starter in center but has maintained that he can still play first. Last year Seattle liked what they saw of him at first during practice but only ended up using him there once in an actual game.It was Reed's bat that made him a top prospect in both the White Sox's and Mariner's farm system, his defense was a pleasant surprise when he reached the majors but he left his bat behind. Was he too focused on defense or did it take him a while to adjust to major league pitching. Whatever the reason for the slow offensive start he now appears to be a solid bench player and it looks like firstbase will be an option as well with the Mets.
