The Oakland Athletics are evaluating free-agent outfielder Magglio Ordonez for a spring tryout, according to MLB Network's Peter Gammons.Ordonez underwent surgery in October after he fractured his right ankle in Game 1 of the ALCS and just recently resumed baseball activities. The 38-year-old struggled with the Detroit Tigers last season hitting .217 at the All-Star break, but finished the season with a .255 batting average. If Ordonez suits up this year it will be his 16th season in the majors.
