David Freese shouldn’t pack his suitcase just yet.
A report surfaced Wednesday stating that the Yankees and Cardinals were discussing a trade involving Freese. But according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, a trade isn’t happening, as it doesn’t make sense for the Yankees given the current state of the Alex Rodriguez situation.
The Yankees will need a third baseman if and when Rodriguez is suspended, but the decision regarding A-Rod won’t come until December. Therefore, as Sherman theorizes, any move in which the Yankees acquire a third baseman before then would likely involve a left-handed hitter, such as Eric Chavez, or someone, like Stephen Drew or Jhonny Peralta, who could play both third base and shortstop. Freese is a right-handed hitter capable of playing only third base.
Freese is reportedly due around $4.5 million through arbitration for 2014, which Sherman thinks could make him a non-tender candidate, thus creating the possibility that the Yankees could sign him as a f...

The New York Yankees are expected to be busy this winter as general manager Brian Cashman aims to improve his roster so the franchise doesn’t miss the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time since 1992-93. One possible acquisition to improve the infield could be St. Louis Cardinals star David Freese. According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, the two clubs...
The 2013 St. Louis Cardinals were a complete team, with quality contributions coming from all areas, culminating in a division crown and a trip to the World Series. The Cards had very few weaknesses, but the most glaring of which was the shortstop position. The offensive production from Pete Kozma and Daniel Descalso was anemic and their defense was not enough to make up for...
The New York Yankees are in trade talks with the St. Louis Cardinals for third baseman David Freese. This move comes as no surprise as the Yankees have no idea what will happen with the ongoing investigation and potential suspension of their current third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
Freese played in 138 games last season for the Cardinals. He had a .262 BA with 6 HR and 60 RBI...

Jeff Passan recently reported for Yahoo Sports that The Cardinals are interested in acquiring a shortstop, and regardless of public statements from the Rockies that Troy Tulowitzki is not available for a trade, he indeed is available at the right price.
The article goes as far as claiming the two teams have had informal talks:
Officials from the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado...
ST. LOUIS -- As many statistics as there are in baseball, at least one more is needed. There needs to be a number to measure the intangibles, those hard-to-quantify factors that can't be found in the box score (or even on fangraphs.com).
Otherwise, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina never will win what he deserved to win Thursday night: The NL MVP award.
Instead, Molina finished...
The official 2013 National League Most Valuable Player is Andrew McCutchen, who was terrific. From what anyone can tell, he’s a very deserving winner, but the voting still came with a few little controversies. For one, Paul Goldschmidt didn’t pick up a single first-place vote, and all season he was incredibly clutch. For two, a pair of first-place votes went to Yadier Molina...
The Orioles and Cardinals had trade talks revolving around Shelby Miller and J.J. Hardy, but St. Louis told Baltimore there's no deal to be made.
There'd been some buzz that the Cardinals might consider moving Miller despite his brilliant rookie campaign and immense talent, but there was no suggestion of such an interest in this dialogue.
Hardy's value never has been...

Now that the season is officially over and there are no more games to be played, it’s time for Baseball to roll out their yearly awards. First, why baseball takes so long after the season to announce the winners of their most coveted awards is beyond me. But nevertheless, with each day that goes by a new winner of a major award is announced. Today, we are examining the 2013...
In the third of our 11 exclusive interviews from the Arizona Fall League, manager Mike Shildt discusses the St. Louis Cardinals pitchers assigned to the Salt River Rafters.
On Friday morning, a press release was issued by a New York public relations firm to announce a “strategic agreement” for the sale of the financially-strapped Memphis Redbirds and AutoZone Park.
While the basic information itself has been discussed often in recent months, the timing indicates the play is nearing the goal line. Specifically, earlier this week, news of a private...
It's the time of the year where we can fully mine the internet for hidden gems. And today, I think we've uncovered a good one.
We can't confirm where this audio broadcast aired (KMOX?), but we do know that it's a radio special that Mr. Jack Buck and Mr. Harry Caray did where they recapped the 1964 Cardinals season, one in which they beat the...
