He's arguably the toast of New York City. But Mets ace Matt Harvey is learning that isn't always a good thing.
After pitching seven shutout innings and striking out 10 in New York's 5-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, the 24-year-old phenom said he was "embarrassed" by the way he was portrayed in a Men's Journal article.
"I read the article and was obviously embarrassed by it," Harvey said. "The way I was portrayed is not who I am and not the person I am," he said to New York Times reporter Andrew Keh.
The Men's Journal piece addressed Harvey's personal life, calling Derek Jeter a "model" for his ability to meet women without the press knowing.
Harvey, who has been linked to model Anne Vyalitsyna, is 8-2 with a 2.23 ERA and 157 strikeouts.
