Mike Cameron was released by the Florida Marlins on Monday night for conduct detrimental to the team. The Miami Herald, citing two sources, reported that Cameron was involved in a verbal altercation with a flight attendant on Sunday. According to the report, the company for the charter flight filed a complaint with the team. The 38-year-old Cameron was acquired from the Boston Red Sox in early July. He batted .238 with six homers and 18 RBI in 45 contests with the Marlins. In 1,955 career games with the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati, Seattle, the New York Mets, San Diego, Milwaukee, Boston and Florida, Cameron hit .249 with 278 homers and 968 RBI.
