An 18-year-old baseball prospect was killed in a head-on traffic collision Tuesday, myFOXhouston.com reported. Dustin Ryan Kellogg, who was signed by the Houston Astros in July, was killed shortly before 1:00am local time when his pickup truck hit a Walmart semi head-on near Conroe, Tex., 40 miles north of Houston. "First of all, I am numb," Astros assistant general manager and director of scouting Bobby Heck told myFOXhouston.com. "I have a daughter at home, but I have 150 sons running around in the minor league system." "Yeah it hurts. Some you get to know more than others. This is a kid that we had in our pre-draft workout. He was a promising young right-hander who made it definitely known he wanted to go out and pitch for his hometown team." Kellogg made appearances this summer for the Gulf Coast League Astros -- the club's Rookie League team -- in Kissimmee, Fla. The Caney Creek High School star was drafted by the Astros in the 34th round in June.
