Beerleaguer:
Journeyman outfielder Willy Taveras, 28, was designated for assignment by the Nationals on May 15 after hitting .200/.243/.257 in 37 plate appearances. A veteran of seven seasons with Houston, Colorado, Cincinnati and Washington, Taveras has 195 stolen bases to his credit, but his production has dipped to unacceptable totals over the last few seasons. The move reportedly coincides with IronPigs outfielder DeWayne Wise exercising his out clause earlier this week. Tevaras will report to Lehigh Valley.
