The Philadelphia Phillies reportedly signed righthander Joel Pineiro to a one-year contract. ESPN.com reported that the contract includes an invitation to spring training. The 33-year-old Pineiro made 27 appearances (24) starts with the Los Angeles Angels last season, going 7-7 with a 5.13 ERA. He started the year on the disabled list and was demoted to the bullpen in August after a stretch of poor outings. Pineiro has a career record of 104-93 and a 4.42 ERA with four different teams.
