The Detroit Tigers are set to sever ties with former Minnesota Twins outfielder Delmon Young, according to the Detroit Free Press.Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski met with the media and said his club doesn't plan to bring back Young, this year's American League Championship Series MVP. With Victor Martinez expected to be Detroit's designated hitter next season after recovering from a knee injury, Dombrowski doesn't envision a role for Young in 2013. "We look at him primarily as a DH at this time," Dombrowski told the Free Press. "Victor is sliding into that. ... And so there's really not a spot for Delmon Young at this time." This season in Detroit, Young, 27, hit .267 with 18 home runs, 74 RBI and 112 strikeouts in 151 games. "I'd like to see how the process plays out," Young recently told mlive.com. "It's my first year on the free agency market, so I'm just going to see how it goes." The Twins traded Young to Detroit in August 2011. He had hit .266 in 84 games with the Twins earlier that season. But he enjoyed success with Minnesota in 2010, hitting .298 with 21 home runs and 112 RBI in 153 games and finishing 10th in AL MVP voting.
