There’s a good chance that Ichiro Suzuki‘s first year in the Bronx won’t be his last. According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees are showing strong interest in re-signing the 39-year-old outfielder, with one source reportedly saying New York is “all over him.” Suzuki, who was dealt to the Yankees in July, spent his first 11-plus seasons in Seattle, carving out what is surely a Hall of Fame career. He made the All-Star Game, earned a Gold Glove and racked up 200 hits each season from 2001-10. The Japanese product even won AL MVP and Rookie of the Year honors during his first season in the majors. Suzuki’s skills have deteriorated a bit over the past couple of seasons, but he remains a viable option for the suddenly cost-conscious Yankees. The veteran hit .283 with nine home runs, 55 RBIs and 29 stolen bases in 2012, but he was very solid for New York down the stretch. After getting dealt to the Yankees, Suzuki hit .322 with five home runs, 27 RBIs and 14 stolen bases in 67 games. The Yankees have also been pursuing infield help, reportedly offering Kevin Youkilis a one-year deal worth $12 million.
