Found November 02, 2012 on Pro Sports Daily:
The Los Angeles Angels have traded pitcher Dan Haren to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for pitcher Carlos Marmol, multiple media outlets reported Friday. There had been speculation that Haren would be traded before Friday's midnight deadline on his $15.5 million club option for 2013. The Angels apparently were prepared to buy out Haren's option for $3.5 million if they could trade him. He was just 12-13 with a 4.33 earned run average in 2012. Marmol is scheduled to make $9.8 million next season. He went 3-3 with 3.42 ERA and 20 saves in 2012. It's unclear whether there are any other players involved in the trade and whether money will be exchanged as well.

Dan Haren was nearly traded to the Chicago Cubs yesterday. Today the right handed pitcher is a fee agent after being released ahead of Friday’s deadline to pick up options. The Los Angeles Angels will pay Haren a $3.5 million buyout instead of the $15.5 million option the team had on him. Despite injury concerns Haren expects to be a highly targeted pitcher. Angels let Haren become free agent

It appeared like Dan Haren was getting traded to the Cubs, but that didn't go down. Instead, the pitcher is now a free agent.

Cubs dodged a bullet with Haren

It looked great on paper.  Angels pitcher Dan Haren for troubled closer Carlos Marmol. Unlike some media nowadays, I read between the lines. When Patrick Mooney of CSN’s Chicago came out with the news that the Haren for Marmol trade was off. I gave myself a sigh of relief. It didn’t feel like new [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Angels decline Dan Haren's $15.5 million option

Dan Haren became a free agent after the Los Angeles Angels failed to work out a trade and then declined the pitcher's 2013 option. Haren, a three-time All-Star from 2007-09, gets a $3.5 million buyout under the deal, which included a $15.5 million club option for 2013. Hours earlier on Friday, the Angels agreed to trade Haren to the Chicago Cubs for closer Carlos Marmol. But...

Dan Haren traded for Carlos Marmol

Dan Haren was traded to the Chicago Cubs for relief pitcher Carlos Marmol on Friday, ending what was a few days of rumors concerning the future of the former Angels starting pitcher. Reports stated last month that the Angels were unlikely to retain Haren after the season, and that turned out to be the case. Haren spent two and a half seasons with the Angels after being acquired by...

Report: Angels Trade Dan Haren to Cubs for Carlos Marmol

It's been a busy few days for the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim). On Wednesday, the team traded one starting pitcher in Ervin Santana, sending him and cash to the Kansas City Royals for a minor league pitcher. On Friday, the team was back at it, sending Dan Haren to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for reliever Carlos Marmol, as first reported by the Chicago Sun...

Things get weird, Haren trade canceled, Angels decline his option

Well, that escalated (and then de-escalated) quickly. There the Angels were on the verge of making a questionable deal sending Dan Haren to the Cubs for Carlos Marmol and before we knew it, the trade was called off (by the Cubs, no less!) and Haren's options was declined, leaving the Angels with nothing to show for what appeared to be a nice trade asset. It was all just...

TRADE ALERT: Haren to Cubs, Marmol to Angels

Details are still trickling out, but it appears that the Angels have finally pulled the trigger on the inevitable Dan Haren trade.  Multiple Spanish-language reports claim that Haren has been dealt to the Chicago Cubs for Carlos Marmol. Carlos Marmol (Cubs) have been traded to the Angels. The pitcher confirms the move to @elcariberd. "Anaheim is a good team". ...

What we know about the potential Dan Haren trade

I've been a bit under the weather the past week so I have read very little Cubs related news with the exception of what's been posted on this site. I know Berselius mentioned something about people on his twitter feed being upset at the Cubs for failing to complete another trade. If I understood him [...]

Transaction Analysis: What We Would Have Said About the Dan Haren Deal That Didn`t Happen by Colin Wyers

The Angels didn`t trade Dan Haren to the Cubs for Carlos Marmol on Friday night. But if they had, this would have been our reaction.
