The Pittsburgh Pirates, a surprise contender in the NL Central and wild-card races, made a move to bolster their offense Monday, acquiring outfielder Travis Snider from the Toronto, according to multiple media reports.

The Blue Jays reportedly will receive right-handed reliever Brad Lincoln.

Snider, 24, was pulled from Toronto's game at Seattle in the seventh inning after going 1-for-2. He hit .250 with a .300 on-base percentage, a .556 slugging percentage, three homers and eight RBI in 10 games for the Blue Jays after making his major league season debut July 20.

After failing to make the Blue Jays' roster out of spring training, Snider spent part of the early season on the Class AAA disabled list due to a right wrist injury. He wound up hitting .335/.423/.598 with 13 homers and 56 RBI in 56 games for Las Vegas.

Snider has seen action for Toronto in every season since 2008. His best year was 2010, when he hit .255 with 14 homers and 32 RBI in 82 games.

Lincoln, 27, was 4-2 with one save and a 2.73 ERA in 28 games (five starts) for Pittsburgh this year. The fourth overall pick in the 2006 draft, he made the majority of his major league appearances as a starter in 2010 and 2011 before landing in the bullpen this year.
