Retired MLB first basemen Mark Grace avoided a lengthy prison sentence by pleading guilty to DUI and endangerment on Thursday. The judge imposed Grace to serve four months in work-release jail time and remain under supervised probation for three years. Also, an interlock device must be installed in Grace's vehicle for at least six months and Grace will need permission to travel anywhere outside the state borders. His work-release time is slated to begin Feb. 10.From AZ Central:Grace pleaded not guilty in October to four aggravated DUI charges. His August DUI arrest was his second in Scottsdale in 15 months.Grace faced from one to 3.75 years in prison on each count, Jerry Cobb, spokesman for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, said recently. In the most recent arrest, Grace, a Scottsdale resident, was taken into custody about 9 p.m. on Aug. 23 after he was pulled over while driving near 7200 E. McCormick Parkway in Scottsdale.Blood tests showed he had a blood-alcohol content of .095, which is above the legal limit of .08, Scottsdale police said.Following his arrest on May 30, 2011, Grace’s license was suspended and he was required to have an interlock device in his vehicle, police said. Charges against him included operating a vehicle with a suspended license and driving without a court-ordered interlock device. The Diamondbacks announced after the incident that Grace would not return to his broadcast duties.“I have nobody to blame but myself," said Grace.Grace played 16 seasons in the league, 13 of which came as a member of the Chicago Cubs.He was a 3-time All-Star, a 4-time Gold Glove Award winner, and owner of a .303 lifetime batting average.
