The Yankees may not stop at extending CC Sabathia‘s contract, it looks like they will move on to keeping Freddy Garcia next. Garcia’s agent, Peter Greenberg told Mark Hale and George King of the NY Post that the Yankees have expressed interest in re-signing his client and that the feeling is mutual. Garcia is a Type-B free agent coming off of a one-year $1.5 million deal that was a non-guaranteed deal when he signed it last offseason. The Yankees will likely offer him arbitration, but try to work out an agreement in the meantime. He probably won’t need much of a raise, but it could be a guaranteed major league contract this time around. Backlash to CC Sabathia Opting Out of Yankees Deal is Undeserved

As many of us have been expecting for months now, CC Sabathia is planning to opt-out of his 7 year, $161 million contract with the Yankees.  The backlash from fans has been significant, and can be expected only to get worse as this news is made official after midnight tonight.  But this outrage is irrational and entirely undeserved. As fans, we fall victim to the ideas of team...

Contrary to what many people anticipated, CC Sabathia did not opt out of the remainder of his contract with the New York Yankees.  Instead he agreed to an extension which essentially adds up to a five year/$122 million deal.  I’ll give some more details and opinion a little later in the week when I don’t have to study my butt off for accounting.

No immediate word on whether or not his contract was reworked. Sabathia was scheduled to make $23 million a year for the next four years of his contract (2012-2015). Sabathia was ranked first on...

Yankees Extend CC Sabathia

The nightmare scenario this offseason for the New York Yankees was losing CC Sabathia in free agency. On Tuesday, the Yankees made sure that didn’t happen when they gave Sabathia a $122 million deal over five seasons. Last year, CC Sabathia held together the Yankees starting rotation. He was a Cy Young Award candidate for the entire season and finished with a 19-8 record and a...
