Right-handed pitcher Fernando Cabrera will be designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI. On Friday night, Cabrera allowed three runs on two hits in 1 1/3 innings including a grand slam to Texas Rangers catcher Bengie Molina.
Cabrera, 28, was 0-0 with a 8.44 ERA in 6 appearances going into Friday’s game. Cabrera was designated for assignment last year by the Red Sox, but he cleared waivers and chose to re-sign with the Sox.
