LOS ANGELES -- USC junior third baseman Ricky Oropesa has been selected in the third round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft (116th overall) by the San Francisco Giants. Oropesa, a two-time All-Pac-10 Conference selection, batted .331 in 170 games (with 167 starts) for the Trojans. He had 40 doubles, three triples, 40 home runs, 159 RBI and 13 stolen bases, posting a .596 career slugging percentage and a .409 on-base percentage. He finished tied for fifth place on USC's all-time list with 40 career home runs (tied with Morgan Ensberg, 1995-98) while his 159 career RBI place him fifth on USC's all-time list.
