TAMPA, Fla. — Robinson Cano‘s father says he expects the New York Yankees to re-sign their All-Star second baseman rather than let him leave through free agency after the season.
Jose Cano says he hopes Robinson will spend his entire career in New York. Jose says he thinks his son will get a six- or seven-year contract.
The 29-year-old Cano can become a free agent for the first time in his career after the World Series ends.
Jose Cano made his comments at the Yankees’ spring training complex, where the Dominican Republic’s World Baseball Classic team is training. Robinson is a member of the squad, and his dad is a coach.
The Dominican Republic will play the second of two exhibition games Wednesday against the Yankees in Tampa.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman gave skydiving a try on Monday, and he loved it so much he went back for seconds. In retrospect, Cashman probably wishes he had just kept it to one jump. As John Harper of the NY Daily News shared with us, Cashman went skydiving with the Golden Knights of the US Army on Monday at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. After feeling the...
If Brian Cashman was a player, the Yankees would have traded him by now. One too many back page headlines, and one too many disastrous deals. And Monday would have been the final straw. The guy who questioned Joba Chamberlain’s decision to jump on a trampoline with his son just snapped his leg like Joe Theisman while leaping from a plane. The guy who said no to a second act of...
Joe Bisceglie from Dog And Pony Show is the topic of conversation the past hour on the Boomer & Carton radio program. Why? Because JB had Melky Cabrera's suspension news a full month before anyone...

How imperative is it for the New York Yankees to start the 2013 season off hot?

Simply put, no team’s success can be contingent on older veterans unless they have serious depth on the bench, not even if you are the Yankees.
The pressure the Yankees have ensued on guys north of 38 years of age, and who are coming back...
The New York Yankees have suffered their latest blow entering the season. First baseman Mark Teixeira is out 8-10 weeks with a strained wrist, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
Teixeira was hurt this week while taking batting practice with the Team USA World Baseball Classic squad. He was sent home from the team, and initial projections had him missing 7-10 days. That has been upped...
Brian Cashman took a break from the payroll drama that is the New York Yankees and jumped out of a plane from 12,500 feet Monday morning. Not that the pressure was getting to him or anything — the Yankees general manager did it to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project and his own sense of worth.
The jump with the Golden Knights of the U.S. Army, based out of Homestead...
The injury bug has
infiltrated the New York Yankees clubhouse this spring, and things just
got a whole lot worse for the Pinstripe Punks. On Wednesday Yankees manager Joe
Girardi announced that Mark Teixeira will miss 8-10 weeks due to a wrist injury sustained
during batting practice with the United States' World Baseball Classic team.
Earlier today RedSoxLife
Yankees slugger Mark Teixeira has been scratched from the U.S. lineup for Tuesday's exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox with a sore right forearm.
The injury is not considered serious.
The U.S. was preparing for its opener in the World Baseball Classic on Friday night against Mexico by taking on the White Sox at Camelback Ranch.
The Rays' Ben Zobrist started...
What does Brian Cashman have in common with Derek Jeter and Joba Chamberlain? Nothing really besides having the third most famous broken ankle in recent New York Yankees history.
After the Yankees general manager broke his right fibula and dislocated his right ankle while skydiving with the Golden Knights of the U.S. Army Monday morning, Cashman had surgery later at Broward Health...
No. No no no no no no no. No. Please no. Mark Teixeira of the New York Yankees and planned starting first baseman for Team USA in the World Baseball classic has come down with an injury. The team needs a first baseman. Naturally reporters asked Ryan Howard if he...
