It may only be the midway point of the season, but Robinson Cano’s father is already looking ahead to what uniform his son will be wearing next season. The All-Star will become available for free agency when his contract expires this offseason, but Jose Cano, a former major league pitcher, believes that the second baseman will be staying put in New York. “I think he is coming back,” Jose Cano said told reporters in the American League clubhouse prior to Tuesday’s All-Star Game. “I don’t think he is going to go anywhere else. Hopefully, he can stay here.” “I have confidence that the Yankees are going to come up with something good in the end. I hope he can stay here. It is close to home and it only three hours. If he goes someplace else, it might be five or six hours. I don’t want to go there. But it is not my decision. He has to make that decision.” The younger Cano was more tight-lipped about his future — as he has been all season — and didn’t answer any questions about his future

ASG notes: What's next for Cano?

Bonus notes from Tuesday night's MLB All-Star broadcast on FOX - the stuff that didn't make it on air! Cano optimistic about second half

There were a couple interesting things that New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano said during the All-Star Media Day. I’m glad he shot done all questions related to Biogenesis and free agency instead focusing on his team on the field. What I enjoyed the most was to see that he’s optimistic about the second half of the season when the cavalry shows up. On the state of...

Yankees will re-evaluate Derek Jeter after the break

It is still possible that Derek Jeter could avoid the disabled list.  There's no reason for the New York Yankees to rush and place him on the DL with the All-Star break upon us.  He will get some time off, and New York will be able to evaluate his quadriceps.  If the strain is bad enough and Jeter can't play, he will go on the DL, but manager Joe Girardi and GM Brian...

Roc Nation Sports Brokers Pepsi Endorsement Deal for Robinson Cano

Scott Boras, you over baby Robinson Cano, you coming with me These n***s is like rotary phones It’s a new day, hit up KD Jay-Z “Crown” I don’t think Boras is overly concerned, but for those who are wishing for Jay-Z’s downfall in the sports agency world, it seems more and more that will be highly unlikely. Pepsi has signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano to...

Matt Harvey wants to model his dating life after Derek Jeter’s

New York Mets ace Matt Harvey could be the next big thing in New York. In addition to having a 7-2 record and a 2.35 ERA in 19 starts this season, Harvey also has a tremendous sense of humor. And it seems like the ladies love him. Harvey, who last we heard is dating this [...]

Bartolo Colon smacks Robinson Cano’s son silly

credit bleacherreport.com Congratulations to Oakland A’s slugger, Yoenis Cespedes, for becoming the new Home Run Derby King.  Cespedes beat out Washington Nationals young phenom, Bryce Harper, by hitting 32 bombs out.  But the knockout punch came from Yoenis’ Oakland A’s teammate, Bartolo Colon, who overzealous celebrated a little too much.  Right before Colon hugged...

Matt Harvey hits Robinson Cano in knee with pitch

After Mike Trout led off the All-Star Game with a double, Matt Harvey hit Robinson Cano in the knee with a pitch. Cano stayed in the game initially while walking to first but left the game a batter latter. Harvey would escape the inning without allowing a run and pitch a perfect second inning before departing the game. Update Told Cano got hit more in the quadriceps than the knee...

The weirdest MLB All-Star Game moments in video, GIFs and pictures

The 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be remembered for a couple of reasons. New York Mets' starting pitcher Matt Harvey plunked Yankees' second baseman Robinson Cano, forcing Cano to leave the game with a quad injury, and legendary Yankees' closer Mariano Rivera appeared in a Mid-Summer Classic for the final time amid great fanfare.   But as newsworthy...

Ten surprise trade candidates

Every so often at the trade deadline a star player gets traded that nobody saw coming. We here at The Outside Corner, however, are not intimidated by the lack of prescience of others. As such, we shall attempt to identify who some of the players that are candidates for the big, deadline surprise deal could be even though predicting something that is inherently unpredictable is something...
