I'm not too thrilled with this signing but what can you expect from a 4th outfielder/bench player? The Red Sox are reportedly seconds from signing Rocco Baldelli to be a back-up outfielder.

Baldelli, the 6th overall pick in 2000, was a VERY highly touted prospect at one time. That time period just happened to be pre-moneyball, which was when people thought it was ok to have a .320 OBP. Things have changed in the game and although he may have heart, soul, speed, and a rocket-arm.. he's not very patient at the plate (.325 career OBP.)

Who am I kidding? I just miss Coco Crisp :(

(PS: I don't care about that home-town boy crap that the Boston Globe and ESPN is trying to feed everyone. Last year during the ALCS, Baldelli said he wasn't a Red Sox fan growing up and didn't care one way or the other. Burn those bridges Baldelli.. you BETTER produce!)
