With the offense scuffling, the Colorado Rockies leaned on Jorge De La Rosa and some clutch bullpen work to snap out of a funk. De La Rosa tossed six scoreless innings, Todd Helton doubled and scored a run, and the Rockies held on to beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 on Wednesday night. Michael Cuddyer reached three times and Rex Brothers picked up his sixth save in seven chances with a scoreless ninth. The Rockies evened their record at 3-3 on this pivotal 10-game homestand. ''We needed the win,'' manager Walt Weiss said. ''I don't know if I'll go as far as say must win. We're still in July here, but we needed the win tonight.'' Miami entered the series having not scored in 37 innings, but it is the Rockies who have struggled for runs in the first three games.
