With his eligibility to join the AARP less than eight months away, Jamie Moyer turned in a performance that would be the envy of pitchers half his age.

The 49-year-old Moyer threw four perfect innings to help the Colorado Rockies to a 7-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants in a Cactus League game Thursday.

The veteran lefthander, bidding to make the starting rotation, struck out four and threw 30 of 45 pitches for strikes and lowered his ERA to 1.00 in four starts.

Moyer sat out last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his left elbow in November 2010.

A veteran of 24 seasons, Moyer owns a career record of 267-204 with a 4.24 ERA.
