Could Molina end up back in the NL West?
The Colorado Rockies have expressed interest in former Giant and free agent catcher Bengie Molina, tweets Troy Renck of The Denver Post, who also says the Rockies have interest in Russell Martin.Molina, a Type A free agent, struggled last season when he hit .249/.297/.326 (.623 OPS) with 5 HR and 36 RBI in 118 games between the Giants and Rangers, who did not offer him arbitration. Texas could have gotten a first or second-round compensation pick had they done so.
After announcing in May (and again in October) that he would be retiring after the 2010 season, the 36-year-old decided in November that he wanted to play one more year.
