Rockies manager Walt Weiss doesn’t have a new contract. Not yet anyway. Owner Dick Monfort is expected to meet with members of the front office and Weiss beginning Wednesday at the club’s spring training headquarters in Scottsdale. Monfort wants Weiss back. And Weiss wants to return. The only issue to resolve is the length of the deal. Weiss had no issue working on a one-year contract this season. He wanted to prove himself and determine if it was a good fit after not seeking the job. His next contract will likely will be different whether that means two years or one-year and a club option. Weiss isn’t a hard-line negotiator but he acknowledged that having more than one year might have an impact on how players view him. Monfort told The Post on Sunday that he didn’t expect any front-office changes. However roles as they did 14 months ago could change.
