Kevin Slowey climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, but he never reached the 5,280 feet summit at Coors Field. With a stockpile of young starters, the Rockies traded the right-hander to Cleveland today for reliever 24-year-old reliever Zach Putnam. Slowey was acquired at the winter meetings. Moving his salary frees the Rockies to more aggressively pursue a second baseman like Boston’s Marco Scutaro. More on Denverpost.com
