Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Rod Barajas and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed on a one year deal. The financial terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed, but my guess is the deal is worth somewhere around $2.5MM give or take a little.Barajas joins A.J. Ellis and completes the inevitable catching platoon for next year. Or does it? Ned Colletti was quoted in regards to Barajas, saying, "This is somebody who, if the season were to start today, would take the lion's share of [playing time], with A.J. in a backup role," per Tony Jackson of ESPN Los Angeles. The key to all of that was if the season were to start today, which it's not, and I am about to tell you why this is important.Ellis is the last decent young catcher the Dodgers have that has any hope of being an everyday major league catcher.
