Jim Thome remains unsigned. One of baseball’s best power hitters, the 42-year-old Thome is not ready to retire just yet. There was not a lot of talk connecting Thome to teams this winter but that has not stopped the left handed hitter with 612 career home runs from looking. One team that could be an option for Thome is the Minnesota Twins 1500ESPN reports that Twins manager Ron Gardenhire wants the club to give Thome a shot. Thome played for the Twins in 2010 and 2011 before being traded to Cleveland. Last season Thome hit .252/.344/.442 while splitting time between Philadelphia and Baltimore. He managed 8 home runs in 58 games played missing time due to a back injury. If Minnesota were to sign Thome it is unlikely that the 22-year veteran will be guaranteed a major league deal. There already is a handful of players who could move back and forth between DH and first base on the Twins current roster.
