Memories Of Kevin Malone:
He's right in the sense that the Phillies are, and always have been, a better team than the Dodgers. He's wrong in the sense that Joe Torre is not at fault and shouldn't be questioned.
To begin, he starts off with a list of "unbelieveable" events that people are upset about.
"The Dodgers lost Game 1 of the National League Championship Series to the Philadelphia Phillies because starter Derek Lowe was allowed to stay in too long."
I agree. This wasn't that big of a deal. Your veteran, postseason tested "ace" is out there and crusing along, I don't think anybody could have expected him to get blown up by 2 home runs in the matter of minutes. That kind of shit happens when you're playing a team that hits a lot of them. Not on Joe Torre at all.
"They lost Game 2 because Philadelphia's Brett Myers was permitted to pitch inside with impunity and Chad Billingsley didn't respond."
Who the hell infered that? I'll tell you who, Bill Plaschke. One man doesn't...
