You read that right.

Over the offseason, when not throwing complete game shut outs, no-hitters, and straight up dominating Major League Baseball, Roy Halladay has many other hobbies and interests. Among those hobbies, fishing is a big part of life to Halladay.

Earlier this month, Halladay, joined with Cardinals’ Chris Carpenter and former-reliever B.J. Ryan, took a fishing trip with Bassmaster Champion Skeet Reese to the Amazon. During the trip, Halladay and Reese encountered numerous wildlife. When Reese came back, he posted the picture above along with a little narrative on his website.

We had plenty of wildlife encounters though. Along with the fishing, we decided to go hunting one night, and Carpenter and B.J. both shot a caiman; which is like an alligator. Me and Doc Halladay even came across a local, sitting bare naked on a tree by the river. What we were able to figure out is that he was fishing in the river for tropical fish to sell for aquariums when he got attacked by an anaconda.

The snake apparently bit him on the ass but he was able to free himself before the snake wrapped him up. Instead the snake wrapped around his motor on the back of his little 14 foot dugout canoe and tore it off the back of his boat. Doc and I helped him gather his gear and flip the boat back over and then towed him home. You could definitely see the bite mark on his ass, but he was able to fight it off; amazing.

Although there is no video evidence of this event, I'm pretty sure it went down like this.

Okay, this guy is amazing. From long-tossing at Citizens Bank Park where there is an ice hockey rink over top of the mound he pitches from, to saving a naked man with snake bites on his backside. Roy Halladay is just a pure beast.

Some other good news came out of this trip. Chris Carpenter slammed his foot on a boat and someother guy was attakced by a sting ray. Sweet.
