Roy Halladay is a work horse, a proverbial ace and the ultimate big game pitcher; however “The Doc” has struggled with command and owns an inflated earned run average to begin the season. Once arguably the most dominant and consistent pitcher in major league baseball it appears father time may be catching up the 35-year-old hurler. Halladay finished up the 2012 season with an uncharacteristic earned run average of 4.49 in 25 starts after a season that saw the hurler spend time on the disabled list for a shoulder strain. Last season marked the first year that Halladay was not in the Top 5 for CY Young balloting since 2005. Baseball pundits assumed a restful offseason would be what the doctor ordered and Halladay would return true to form in 2013. Not the case, as Halladay was mediocre in spring training and questions arose that perhaps he was injured. Not the case; Halladay began the season as part of the Phillies ageing rotation.
